Re-Cap of Our Monthly Meeting

Thanks for all who came to our meeting. The main topic: our next movie.

Our last outdoor movie, Guys and Dolls was a success on September 19th, with a big turnout, beautiful weather and a bluegrass band as an opener. We had two challenges to face for our next event on Tuesday, October 23rd:

1. What movie
2. How to raise funds for this screening and for other community events in the months ahead.

Specifically, for the film, we need to raise several hundred dollars to cover the costs of the film.

And, more generally, finding local sponsors who believe that community gatherings are important will help us host more screenings, celebrations and other events.

So we discussed going to local businesses to ask for their help.

And fortunately, at the table, were Jack and Danny from one local business: Rudy's on 9th between 44th & 45th. They stepped up and offered a first contribution to become a Lead Sponsor of the film.

So, thanks Rudy's! And for those of you who come on the 23rd (and are over 21) you may even get a coupon in the playground that night for a post-film treat.

Now we're part of the way there...but still need to keep asking around. If you can help ask local businesses for support, please do -- or email me at justin.krebs@gmail.com. We will publicly thank the businesses and include their logo on the fliers for the event and on a program at the event.

And speaking of the movie, we also made a choice about the film itself: Little Shop of Horrors. That's the power you have when you come to the meetings.

See you all on the 23rd!

PS There were other topics at the meeting that we'll provide updates on soon.
